Additional Traffic Impacts along McBride Corridor Starting Next Week

Type(s)
Public Notice

For at least the next two weeks, starting Tuesday, August 2nd (next week), significant traffic diversions will be in place in order to continue major water main upgrades along McBride Street (see map). McBride Street will be reduced from 4 lanes to 2, with corresponding reductions for through traffic to connecting streets. While construction is ongoing, preferred routes will be via 11th Avenue East, 8th Avenue East and via Cow Bay. No left turn will be permitted onto McBride from the east sides of 7th, 6th and 4th, and 5th Avenue East will be fully closed until Cotton Street, with access for local traffic only. No left turn diversions are in place due to the lack of visibility during the closure in the interests of community safety. Advanced signage will be in place to help guide drivers and warn of upcoming traffic diversions.

For the safety of crews, other drivers, and community members, we ask that in you please be extra cautious, drive slowly, and be conscientious of signage during our busy construction season. We understand that this is an inconvenience that may add a couple of minutes to your commute - and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
