The City of Prince Rupert is divided into several departments that offer goods and services to our residents – ranging from administration, to our recreation facilities, to the management of City utilities.
Administration
The City's Administration Department oversees the City's operations and provides legislative support to Mayor and Council.
Recreation
The Recreation and Community Services Department focuses on community health, wellness and maintaining an exceptional quality of life for all residents.
Finance
The Finance Department is responsible for executing the City budget through the collection of taxation revenue, and financing of operations.
Fire and Emergency Services
First established as a volunteer brigade in November of 1908, the Prince Rupert Fire Department has provided fire protection service in the municipality for over 100 years.
Operations
The role of our department is to plan for and oversee the maintenance and renewal of our public works infrastructure.
Planning and Development Services
The mission of our Planning and Development Services department is to oversee the implementation of the Official Community Plan for the community, guide local building and development efforts, and provide excellent customer service to residents.
RCMP and Victim Services
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)operates Canada-wide and provides contracted service to our city. The Prince Rupert RCMP detachment serves the City of Prince Rupert as well as a significant surrounding area.
Information Technology
The Information Technology (IT) Department develops and maintains an internal network of close to 200 desktop workstations, digital office and networking equipment, operating systems and servers.
