Climate Action Planning

Climate action is a key priority our community and the City of Prince Rupert are partners in helping to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and to create a complete, compact and energy-efficient community.  In 2022, the City successfully achieved funds to complete a Climate Adaptation and Action Plan, which was adopted in January of 2025 in concert with the Community Energy and Emissions Plan adopted in 2017 posted below.

Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program

The Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP) is a conditional grant program that provides funding to BC Climate Action Charter signatories. This funding supports local governments in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and move forward on achieving their Charter goals.

**Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the only reporting requirement for the 2020 reporting year was completion of the 2020 Carbon Tax Calculation Form and submission to the Province. CARIP was discontinued in the 2021/2022 fiscal year and replaced with the Local Government Climate Action Program Survey Submission Report.
