At Monday's Meeting, City Council voted to give first and second readings to an Omnibus Zoning Amendment Bylaw that proposes a number of changes to streamline regulatory processes and work towards implementing goals around the City's Official Community Plan - including those for housing.
Among other things, the amendment proposes allowing secondary suites in duplexes, animal hospitals in all commercial zones, and temporary use of shipping containers for storage for up to 60 days. For a full listing of changes, a copy of the Bylaw and supporting documents, Frequently Asked Questions, and to ask your own questions to Planning Staff, head to our engagement platform.
Before this Bylaw can be passed, a Public Hearing must also be scheduled - so the community will also have an in-person opportunity for feedback. Stay tuned to our social media channels, City website, the local newspaper, and the Rupert Talks project page for additional information on the date of the Public Hearing.
