Starting today, the City’s contractors are taking steps towards the demolition of the former Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall – the location for the new RCMP detachment at the corner of McBride Street and 3rd Avenue West. Fencing is up, with contractors on location, and demolition anticipated to start within 2 weeks. No traffic obstructions are currently anticipated, but it should be noted that there may be some noise associated with demolition during working hours which will be necessary to prep the materials for disposal at the landfill.
We are excited to see progress initiated on the mandated RCMP replacement, which we must complete in order to be in compliance with RCMP standards and our Policing Agreement. The detachment project will take GHG emissions into account in construction, and will be an asset to serve the community for decades to come. Occupancy is anticipated to occur in 2024.
