Notice is hereby given that a COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE COUNCIL MEETING will be held on May 27, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 424 – 3 rd Avenue West, Prince Rupert, B.C.
Residents – please be advised that Bear Creek Construction Group is beginning construction next week in the 400 block of 7th Avenue East and Green Street. This is a full street rehabilitation project to include water, sewer, storm mains, curb/gutters, sidewalk and paving, and will take a minimum of 3 months to complete due to the extensive work required. During this time, Green Street will be closed.
Today City Hall has lowered the flag to half-mast in remembrance of former two-term City Councillor Paddy Greene, who passed away May 17, 2019. Paddy was a long-time commercial fisherman in Prince Rupert, starting in the industry at just 14 years old, and purchasing his own vessel at 18.
Residents - you may have noticed the construction occurring on the corners of 2nd Avenue and 3rd Street (in front of Canada Post). The Provincial Ministry of Transportation is currently making crosswalk improvements and installing illuminated overhead pedestrian signage at the intersection in a continued effort to improve pedestrian safety through the Highway 16 corridor in Prince Rupert.
Please see below for an update from yesterday's Council Meeting. For updates from past meetings, check out our Council Corner Archive.
