Council Update - May 25th, 2020
- Council approved a Development Variance Permit for 233 Cormorant Road to proceed to public notification.
- Council adopted the 2019 Audited Financial Statements as presented by the Chief Financial Officer. The CFO noted a stronger overall financial position than years past, which has enabled the City to continue to invest in infrastructure upgrades.
- Council voted to give the first reading to Zoning Amendment Bylaw No 3452 for a rezoning of a portion of the BC Housing property located on Kootenay Avenue from RM1 to RM2 multi-family residential maximum density. Public Information Packages will be distributed by the Applicant to inform residents of the rezoning request and provide opportunity for input. Council has deferred direction regarding waiver of the public hearing and the requirement of a potential Section 219 covenant for the property was deferred to the second reading.
- The City Manager provided an update on City service impacts related to COVID 19. Starting Wednesday May 27th, City Hall will be accessible by appointment. Please call (250) 627 0960 or (250) 627 0950 to set up an appointment. In the interests of community and staff safety, only one customer will be permitted at a time. Note that alternate forms of payment to cash is preferred and residents are encouraged to use electronic means as much as possible.
