The City will be conducting necessary Capital Utility Upgrades in the 400 block of 7th Avenue East starting on Monday, August 14th, 2017. We expect this upgrade to take 4-6 weeks, with minor upgrades including sidewalks, paving, and curbing to occur in the weeks following.
The 400 block of 7th Avenue East will be fully closed between 8:00 am to 4:30 pm during upgrades to the utility, and open to one-way traffic in the evenings. To enable construction, a road detour will be set up at the 300 block of 7th Avenue East, detouring onto Young Street, and from the 500 block of 7th Avenue East onto Green Street. Parking access to properties located in the 400 block of 7th Avenue East may be temporarily disrupted from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm when construction is happening in front of the property. After 8:00 am, the City requests all area residents relocate vehicles that are parked on the street in the 400 block to an area outside of the construction zone listed above.
There may also be temporary interruptions to the water supply of homes between the 300 and 400 block of 7th Avenue East. Water shut offs will be kept to a minimum, and when necessary, the water will be shut off with proper notification to the impacted property. Before the water is turned off, City staff will personally notify each resident in the area by placing a notice on the front door of the property. Interruptions to service and property access will be during regular working hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
All area residents who will be directly impacted by the construction zone are also being contacted directly by the City to inform them of the construction. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during these capital upgrades.
**Update: City staff additionally must close one lane of Green Street between 6th and 7th Avenue East during construction in order to allow the installation of a new manhole, which will impact local traffic. There will be no right or left turn from 6th Avenue East onto Green Street during this time. The City anticipates the reopening of the street by the weekend of August 19th.
