Masks required in public spaces August 25th

In accordance with the Provincial Health Officer’s order issued today, effective Wednesday August 25th, 2021 masks will be required to be worn indoors in public settings for all people 12 years of age and older, regardless of their vaccination status.  People who cannot wear a mask or who cannot put on or remove a mask on their own are exempt. 

The order applies to all indoor public settings and includes the following:

City Postpones Official Start Date For Curbside Recycling

AUGUST 20, 2021– PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. – The Operations Department has made the pragmatic decision to postpone the official start date of the City wide curbside recycling program to January 1, 2022.

In developing this new service for the community, the Operations Department faced many setbacks, ranging from COVID delays and interruptions to route and scheduling conflicts to new equipment and technology challenges.

RESOLUTION TO EXCLUDE THE PUBLIC THAT Council hereby declares that the meeting held at 4:00 p.m. on August 23, 2021 is to be closed to the public and that the basis of this closure is that the item(s) on the agenda of this meeting comply with the following closed meeting criteria specified in Section 90 of the Community Charter:

90.1 (c) labour relations or other employee relations; and,

(e) the acquisition, disposition or expropriation of land or improvements, if the council considers that disclosure could reasonably be expected to harm the interest of the municipality.

Notice of Permissive Tax Exemptions from 2020-2023 or 2020-2027

Pursuant to Section 227 of the Community Charter, Public Notice is hereby given that Prince Rupert City Council is considering adopting proposed Permissive Property Tax Exemption Amendment Bylaw No. 3477, 2021. This Bylaw, if adopted by Council, would grant permissive exemptions from municipal property taxes to the properties listed in the Notice linked below.
